Pennine offer a range of WAN solutions, here’s a guide to DSL, Bonded XDSL, MPLS and Private Circuits.
If you are not sure which route to take then let Pennine provide you with independent advice.
DSL
At the customer premises, a DSL router or modem connects the DSL line to a local-area network (LAN) or an individual computer.

Dedicated Connection & Speed
Bonded XDSL
Multiple DSL connections presented as a single ethernet connection. The benefits are huge with high bandwidth available without the high cost of leased lines. DSL lines can be bonded for any bandwidth intensive application, from a corporate VPN hub through to hosting web-servers.
Bonded xDSL provides greater resilience and upload speeds with 2 to 4 Broadband connections bonded together to form a single connection, with static IP’s.
MPLS
Pennine Telecom is able to offer multi protocol label switching (MPLS) – a networking solution which is cost effective, secure and capable of carrying voice, video and data traffic at different prioritisation levels. With the security of a VPN, MPLS has superior performance for business critical applications and cost benefits of converging voice, data and video traffic on the same network. It is a flexible, scalable method of connecting any number of end points using private circuits, ethernet, ADSL and SDSL, into a shared core. MPLS provides organisations with the additional ability to create secure extranet solutions, and to easily change the VPN by adding or moving sites and upgrading or downgrading bandwidth.
Reliability – MPLS are highly reliable, if a link fails traffic is automatically rerouted to find another path.
Cost effective –MPLS allows “any to any” connections, which effectively means all offices can connect at no extra cost.
Security – Constantly rerouting your packets to find the quickest path, there is no standard link means MPLS offer high security.
Manageable – as a business you will appreciate that being able to provide a Quality of Service and prioritisation your important data is reaching its destination first time - managing application performance over your links easier.
Bandwidths - High to very high bandwidths are available using MPLS. You can have the bandwidth you need and increase the bandwidth easily – ensuring that your network can grow with your business.
Private Circuits
Is your business expanding beyond your current connectivity capability? Pennine can help you to move up to a Private Circuit which offers higher quality bandwidth and improved connectivity.
A Private Circuit provides a connectivity solution dedicated solely to your business. It is connectivity is ‘always-on’ between two or more locations. There are higher bandwidth options available with a better quality of service than ADSL. It is uncontended and provides a guaranteed level of service with the ability to allow traffic prioritization for voice, data and other applications.
Do your sites need to share voice, data and other applications? Are you looking to route Voice over IP (VoIP) to multiple sites?
If the answer to either of these questions is ‘yes’, then let Pennine assist your business in benefiting from:
- Increase productivity - uncontended 24/7 connectivity
- Increase customer service – higher bandwidth for faster voice (VoIP), data and other applications
- Increase efficiencies within your business with traffic prioritization
- Quality of Service
